Socio Economic And Caste Census 2011
Government of India, commenced the Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC) 2011, in June 2011 through a comprehensive door to door enumeration across the country. This is the first time such a comprehensive exercise is being carried out for both rural and urban India.
The entire exercise will be paperless, done on handheld electronic device (tablet PC). This will drastically reduce data entry errors and enumerator discretion. Receiving claims and objections from public and disposing these is an integral part of the SECC process. This ensures transparency and people's participation in the process resulting in quality outcomes. The Claims and Objection process starts with publication of 'Draft List' and completes with publication of 'Final List'.
